Ian Macquarie
My engine builder lent me a Wosp P/N LMS009 "Ford Pinto OHC" to try when mine sounded a bit weak. In the end I didn't try it (too cold in the garage) and just changed the battery which sorted things out.It had an adjustable mount which would have given some flexibility of mounting on the car. As I say, in the end I didn't use it but they said it would have better torque than my standard unit. They use it on all the engines they put on their dynamometer.Hope that helpsIan
elie boone
What you need is the Lucas LRS 110 1.4KW startermotor https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-TASMIN-2-0-FORD-OHC-PINTO-BRAND-NEW-1-4Kw-HIGH-POWER-UPGRADE-STARTER-MOTOR/302343585246?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=
A7 OOH
elie boone Is this a straight replacement requiring no modsGordon
Sooty
Fitted a Wosp to my XF in the summer. Wow what a difference, higher spin rate and less drain evident on voltmeter. You need to know what ring gear you have on your flywheel but most are 135 teeth on xfs in which case you need the pinto fitting. Autoelectrical supples are the cheapest- to the point of brassing off other wosp dealers as well as wosp themselves
elie boone
A7 OOH, yes the Lucas LRS 110 is a straight swap, and the body is much smaller than the old Lucas or Bosch startermotor.

PETER HERTS
Thanks for all your suggestions. In the end I went with WOSP from Auto Electric Supplies who sent it out within a day but I wish I had read Sooty's reply a bit more carefully as although I sent pictures to them for identification they sent a starter to suit a 110 tooth ring and guess what? I have a Pinto 135 tooth ring. Anyway they are sorting it out and I should get it back after the pinion is changed after the Christmas shutdown. So be warned, count your teeth before ordering. Thanks to everyone for replying and Merry Christmas to you all. Peter
