more speedo problems

Recommended Posts

The quill/square drive has broken in two & one half is jammed in the "housing" (sorry, forgotten correct description) on the gearbox. ☹️ So far have been unable to remove the circlip that retains the "housing" due to lack of space, and cannot remove the broken quill with angled pliers. *mad*

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution. I really don't want to have to remove engine and gearbox.

Cheers

Neil

Neil,

I'd be happy to have a look at this with you.

I have a fair selection of tools, and facilities to improvise tools as required.

I'm working tonight, but will be about tomorrow afternoon (after GP qualifying!).

Drop in (I think you know where I am) or give me a call on 616493 or 07770617127.

Regards

Richard

Neil,

The place for the Sigma BC1400 I have got is in Congleton on 01260 297837 or at www.cyclestore.co.uk here and it was charged at £21.49 and included P&P ISTR so that can't be bad!

Cheers

Nick

OK, we've got the speedo drive gear out of the 'box, with the flexi bit well stuck in and it won't come out!

According to the Caterham parts CD the part number is:-

6011058 Speedo Gear 3.92:1 Axle Ratio (86 onwards) at £10.69

The one that is fitted is black in colour.

I recall that the one fitted in my six speed(with 3.62 diff) is brown in colour. Caterham quote:-

70048 Speedo Gear 3.62:1 Axle Ratio (86 onwards) at £11.28

Are these standard Ford parts and, if so, what are the Ford part numbers?

Out of interest, what others are available, and what are the differences?

Hope it is of some use regards Nigel.
