sylvaman
How are the cooling fans wired on our cars. Is the feed disconnected when ignition is switched off ? On a late model 310 .

sylvaman
Sometimes on a warm day , the fan appears to come on (after being out) , and manouvering into the garage , just before switching off and then stops .Tried ignition back on , but doesn't activate the fan. Paul Deslandes
Depending on the year of your car, if the fan is wired directly to the radiator fan thermostat switch, these switches can become intermittent and then fail completely. The solution is to add a relay to the circuit so that the switch contacts don't arc when the fan switches on and off. I got through several switches years ago but since adding the relay this one has lasted >20 years.I'm sure JK can find the original thread with the wiring diagram if he hasn't already..................Paul
sylvaman
Thanks Paul , Just taken the Nose cone off and I see the Radiator core is seeping at the bottom , which is not going to help an intermittant fan issue Incidentally its a late model 310 S, probably ECU controlled fan switching ?
