Packers
Hi all Is there a knack to doing this to reduce the chance of paint chipping? Also any tweaks for protecting the paint on the edges of the bonnet pressing in general too? Thanks in advance! Paul
Shropshire AR
Some tips regarding bonnet fit. Get some 2mm or 3mm 20mm wide sticky backed neoprene foam from eBay and put it under the sides of the bonnet. Check your front spring catches are not rubbing against the paint, if they're close or touching fit a couple of rubber O rings over them. Check the state of the foam tape at the front and back of the locating places for the bonnet if Old, compressed or worn replace it.Final bit of advice, always check you've locked the bonnet on as part of a pre blat check.......they can fly up to 60ft high if you forget, l know
Packers
Cheers. I think the foam at the rear is too far forward on the flange of the bulkead/scuttle too. It's a factory car but the bonnet appears to be contacting the metal behind the foam strip and actually sticking to the paint a little
Shropshire AR
Not any easy fix but if new it should be a warranty repair. Otherwise you could replace the front foam strip and put some more on slightly forward to cushion the contact area or put some paint protection film on the nose cone where the contact is.
