Minor electrical: wiring for a clock (1999 K Supersport)

Yes, I know, a clock...  There was a clock in the car when I bought it, carving a hole in the carbon dash.  That clock failed, so I replaced it as part of my other works on the car.  I thought I'd used the same connections, but clearly not.  The new clock has become a gauge showing how long my left indicator has been on.  So it flashes when I indicate left, but is useless as a touring aid.  Where have others got their clocks wired to?  Any hints or tips on this...

Phil, as a norm the most common colour coding behind the dash is:

  • Brown - permanent live
  • Green - ignition switched live
  • Black - earth (negative)
  • Red/White - live to gauge illumination

Additional cable colours are specific to their use, sensors etc. Taking your feed from any brown and using a black as the earth should work fine, but add an inline fuse.

Stu.
