Downlands
HiI'm trying to remove the leather tunnel top and to do so, I need to slacken the handbrake handle so that its vertical.I've found the handbrake cable adjuster (just above the diff) but I cant adjust it at all. Is there a technique to this? Which way should the plastic nut be turned in order to loosen the handbrake... I'm assuming anticlockwise?ThanksTim
ChrisC
There is two nuts, a locking one and the adjuster. Undo the locking first with the handbrake applied, the release the handbrake and loosen the adjuster. You are correct it's anti-clockwise to loosen. Downlands
Hi Chris, I hadn't tried unlocking the locknut with the handbrake on... i'll give that a go.Thanks
SM25T
I use a big flat screwdriver to twist the knurled parts away from each other if that makes sense. Then you can spin the outer one down the cable. Then pull the cable away from the chassis and spin the other one freely too.
ChrisC
That locking nut can be tight, also make sure it's clean from rust and dirt.
John Vine
Or if you count the clicks as you undo the adjuster nut (100 when I did mine the other day), you'll know how far to do it up again to get the same cable adjustment.JV
