jackb_ms
HelloShould there be grease around the ball of the front anti roll bar?If yes which type?Jack
SM25T
I use normal grease ... like for wheel bearings. Don't put too much in the cup, or you won't be able to push the ball in.
jackb_ms
ThanksThe cups are bone dry and one of the ball half of it is still in the cup.Not sure how best to remove the other half.Jack
garybee
I'd spin it until it was sideways on then pull it out with a pair of pipe pliers. Hopefully it'll be fairly loose as it's been running dry. You could also drill it and wind a screw in to give you a bit more purchase. Drill off centre to avoid the ball spinning.
Tazio
If there's half there then its broken, so you'll need a new one, Redline should have them, so you just need to find a way of breaking the remains up in the cup, drill, screwdriver etc.
jackb_ms
Hi I've got 2 on order with Redline as well as other bits. The ball is completely stuck no movement at all. Is the material of the ball strong enough to have a thread cut into it? Jack
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 7, 2020 Leadership Team Share Posted April 7, 2020 It already has a thread to screw it onto the end of the anti-roll bar, it should be easy enough to drill and tap it for another thread if it comes to that.Stu. SM25T
When you screw the new ones on, just do it by hand, don't use mole grips, or you might crack it. I put a couple of spots of threadlock on the thread.
Bricol
Its not usual to use conventional threadlock on plastic - can make the plastic brittle or simply not work.ou can get threadlock for use with plastics - or just use superglue if you must use something but have a "moment" at the price of proper threadlock :)
garybee
Or just say "sod it" and blow torch it out. Do it quickly and the powder coat on the outside of the cup will still be fine. Even if it isn't, won't take long to paint it.
7 wonders of the world
drill it out its only plastic.....keep going up bits sizes and one will bite and spin it free if not a sharp crack with a chisel will split what little is left...
jackb_ms
The bugger is out!I tried creating a new thread into the material but that didn't work. When i was tightening the bolt the thread broke. So I used a number of drill bit and it finally started to spin which was then a question of using more drill bit to break the last part in half. Now waiting on the new balls from Redline!Jack
