garybee
Assuming adjustable platforms.. Back adjuster off all the way. Put a couple of chunky screwdrivers (or similar) across the 2nd coil down. Grab the screwdrivers (or similar ) on each side and lean down to compress the springs a bit. Pull the top cap out sideways now the tension is released (assistant is handy at this point).Obviously you can substitute spring compressors but the above is quicker if the springs have little preload. StevehS3
The rears take quite a lot of compressing. Some use motorcycle compressors for the front. There's obviously a safety issue to consider with what you use - I used a pair of ratchet straps like this which worked for the fronts and the rears. Good for releasing too as it's controllable. They need to be compressed and released slowly and evenly on each side.
Wrightpayne
1” ratchet straps here too. If non adjustable platforms you can slip the lower collar up and remove the big circlip.Ian
Tazio
I've never really had any problem. Before starting always record the height of the platforms. I just wind the platforms down to the bottom, unscrew the top mounts and slide springs off, I've never needed spring compressors
