CageyH
Have many people here who have the Freestyle inboard suspension upgraded there shock absorbers? If so, what did you go for and what are your thoughts about the change he? I currently have Avo shocks on the front and Bilsteins on the back of my car, but I am thinking of changing them soon, as I believe that my car could feel more planted with better shocks, and a flat floor set up. (I know not many people have the freestyle inboard system, so I don't expect many posts).
Tazio
I have Avos on mine, early days as only just put the bits on, impressions, front end is ok, rear end lacks compliance...Will probably revert to my M1 billies on rear. 7 Wonders on here runs a Duratec car with freestyle setup, he uses Protech dampers. CageyH
I am not that keen on the Avo/Billie mix to be honest. My Avos are about 10 years old now though.
Tazio
The little mileage I have done, the Avo rears, which have just been refurbed, are so so, but it maybe simply the spring rates, be good to know what they are...
rgrigsby
I've got 3 way adjustable Nitron's on mine, I already had Nitron's on the car when the inboard suspension was fitted so it made sense to keep this consistent. They certainly seem to work well but I haven't driven the setup with anything else so difficult to compare. They were refurbished a few years back and by all accounts it was a complete PITA as I get the impression I may be the only person Nitron have made dampers of that size for, still hopefully they have the templates now. Thanks Robert
7 wonders of the world
Although my Protechs may seem to be at the lower end of the price chain Kevin did a very good job of building them for the correct ratio, very pleased so far having play with several different spring rates too.Lawrence at Quantum can also offer 1 way or 2 way built to fit Freestyle as he made a set for Merrick who currently races on them. pgm
It would definitely be worth chatting to Simon at Meteor Motorsport for advice on damper set up. Very helpful as I believe a lot of members have found.A flat floor set up would also be a good idea to achieve the best results if you do indeed replace them.Kind regards PGM
CageyH
I have been chatting to Simon recently. I was interested in feedback from anyone who has upgraded. The big question for me is one or two way dampers. The car is probably 99% road use, so I am thinking 1 way adjustable will be sufficient. There is a big price difference for the two way. SM25T
You could speak to Boss Racing in Longfield, Kent (UK) .... and ask to speak to a Mr Gary May ;-) phone +44 1474 702892
Tazio
Lovely bloke Gary, I asked him about spring rates...he couldn't remember but thought fronts may have been 150lbs ( they weren't)...So some of the knowledge has been lost...
