CageyH
I seem to recall that a G30 based coola t is recommended for use in the K series. Am I correct in thinking that G30 is the BASF reference for the VW G12 or G13 based coolant? I can't get hold of Comma Xstream over here at a sensible price, so I need an alternative. Jonathan Kay
Yes, I use Comma XStream G30. Caterham Parts now offer Millers.I don't know how to match coolants by standards and specifications and colours are not consistent. It is an "OAT" and needs to be suitable for aluminium engines. It looks as if you can get the Comma stuff through Amazon France... is this price too high?Jonathan
Jonathan Kay
Ha! That was on Amazon France at €31/ 5L, but it has just changed to:Il n’y a actuellement aucun vendeur en mesure de livrer ce produit sur votre zone géographique....This looks as if it might be the same as the Millers at Caterham Parts, but is very expensive.Millers Alpine antigel étendre Rouge Longlife 2 litres....How about going to a quasi Halfords and checking what they recommend for the K series in a Rover.Jonathan

anthony1956
you want G13 which I bought only yesterday in Swissyland - it used to be G12. From Audi - and yes it's not cheap.
anthony1956
comes in 1.5 litres as concentrate, mix to taste.
anthony1956
which of course halves the price..

CageyH
Android. I have found 5l of Motul Inugel concentrate for €33 posted. Seems like a sensible purchase to me. Although the Lescot stuff should be ok.
Jonathan Kay
I haven't got an Android device to test but there have been a lot of recent posts about difficulties. Would using "Desktop mode/site" be relevant?Jonathan

CageyH
The G30 is coming from Birmingham,so I can't see it being cheaper. I will ask the vendor about postage costs.

CageyH
I actually found 5 litres of the Motul G13 ready mix for €14 at the local (to work) Carrefour. It comes to something when you can't get it in the local auto centres, but you can pick it up in the Supermarket.

Jonathan Kay
Is there a reason for using something that meets VW G13 rather than the coolants originally recommended for the K?ThanksJonathanPS: Comparison of the different VW specs from a source I've never heard of. CageyH
It's in the first post. G30 is the same as BASF reference G12. The question is, should you use the Xpart OAT 5 as recommended by MG Rover instead of G30 as recommended by Caterham, or the G13 which is ecologically more friendly and the alternative.to G12? Jonathan Kay
Thanks. But I thought that you were looking at alternative specs because of problems with availability rather than any advantage.Jonathan
