don_g Posted March 10, 2003 Share Posted March 10, 2003 Any ideas on which clutch release bearing, and carrier, to use when replacing the standard (Escort Sport?) clutch with and AP 7 1/4 twin plate? John Howe Posted March 10, 2003 Share Posted March 10, 2003 The AP multi plate clutch will need a radius anulus to the trust bearing... I used a Saab bearing (as recommended by PC), removed the radius trust face, reduced it down to required thickness by spinning it in a lathe and at the same time talking to it with a angle grinder. This was then glued to the original trust bearing face using JB weld and left in the vice overnight... for good measure a thin tube was also used (made up by Foxy Smith, by beating a strip of S/steel to form a circle) to join the two faces together.
