Caesar
My recently acquired indulgence has no reversing light or fog light. So, a clear back panel. But it passed a MOT last January. What are the requirements? I cannot seem to get a proper steer here. I am told that, if they are fitted they have to conform but are they mandatory on a 2005 car? And if so, how come it passed an MOT ?Comments appreciated! Area Representative bluenose Posted March 19, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted March 19, 2019 Reversing light not tested and therefore if not there it does not matter. I think, not sure, every new car must have a reversing lamp for type approval/homologation but if your car is kit built/ built by small manufacturer and SVA/IVAed then it might not be required? My Blackbird does not have one as I only have an electric reverse.I think you should have a rear fog light and one should have been fitted for SVA/IVA however if your car was rebuilt it may have been left off? Think they became a legal requirement in the 1980s. While your MOT tester is happy I wouldn't worry other than getting caught in fog, always good to be seen in such a small, low car.Nick
Caesar
Thanks Nick.Agree with the common sense of having a rear fog light. I am going to fit a couple of red LED strips and hope their brightness meets MOT requirements.David

Ivaan
Mine's the same. No reverse, so no revering light. Fog lamp bolts on underneath the fuel tank bracket.Damn thing falls off about 20 mins after each MOT, and I have to remember to re-attach every 12 months.
