AP 7 1/4 clutch problem

I'd appreciate advice about fitting an AP twin plate, CP4112, (on a fresh BDA) to my existing type 9 box and alloy bell housing.

Main problem is that, when the necessary round nosed bearing (HD3259) with suggested extended bearing carrier (RD315A), both from Burtons, are fitted there is no play at all at the clutch actuating arm (cable operated) as the CRB is touching, and probably compressing, the clutch spring.

The new carrier extends the face of the new bearing towards the clutch fingers by around 9mm compared with the setup on the old engine (standard Caterham Escort Sport 🤔clutch). The AP clutch spring fingers only allow about 5mm of this extension before the CRB contacts the spring fingers. It seems the remaining 4mm takes up all the slack in the system and starts to compress the spring.

Before I machine the 4mm off this lovely shiny anodised bearing carrier, any suggestions?
