adrianwindo
I need to replace a couple of the rocker switches in the dash as the lights don't function (e.g. brake test light) . Anyone had a go at this, do you push from the back and they pop out. Do you have to be brave and push pretty hard as they seem very tight? thanks
revilla
Squeeze them top and bottom with finger and thumb from behind to release the spring clips and push forwards.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted February 20, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted February 20, 2019 You need to remove the connections then push from the back. One multipin connector, two separate connections, one on either side, to the tell-tale.Are you sure the lamp has failed or has one of the connections to the lamp come off. I find the separate connections to the lamp really annoying.
adrianwindo
I haven't checked to see if the connections have come adrift - i will do that, just assumed they had failed
Stridey
The new rocker switches are ever so slightly more rounded than older ones, but look similar in photos, if that’s important to you... ( not so much of a mis match to bother me in the least)... you car may well already have the smoother ones already. But as said, easy to remove and replace. Area Representative Paul Richards Posted February 20, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted February 20, 2019 Bulbs in switches can be renewed with care. They are a tiny bulb. Used to be available from now defunct Maplins. Assume they must be available elsewhere.
adrianwindo
I wont be impressed if they are different.....shall end up changing all of them. Bought 4 so far
Ian Macquarie
If the rocker part looks different it can be praised out and replaced with the rocker from the original switch. (At least that's true for my era of car.) They are designed to come out to change the bulbs as Paul says above.
adrianwindo
The replacement rocker switches were identical, yes i can see that the covers can be swapped. Anyway, 4 new switches installed.I shall get a few spare bulbs in case others failMany thanks to everyone for their help
