Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 30, 2019 Leadership Team Share Posted January 30, 2019 292 Or Tigerseal, it's often more commonly available.Stu.
anthony1956
okaayyy. Why? edit: so anyway, ordered 292i and 552. Maybe I'll stick one wing with each.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 31, 2019 Leadership Team Share Posted January 31, 2019 221 works as well. It's not a particularly complex bonding job so there's plenty of sealant adhesives that will work just fine.Stu.
anthony1956
aye, I presume there's a selection that all meet the need as an "adequate" solution.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 31, 2019 Leadership Team Share Posted January 31, 2019 Certainly more than adequate for bonding wings on, it's not quite the same as, say, heat proof tiles on a space shuttle!
Guy Lowe
I used Tigerseal in conjunction with BigHeads on my front wings about 15 years ago and never had a problem, it is readily available from Halfords (10% L7C discount) or even cheaper at Euro Car Parts.https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/car-maintenance-accessories/body-repair/filler/?UPL.TIG/NB&0&cc5_715https://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/fillers-preparation/tigerseal-black-310ml-w-gloves

Alan Reeves
What us the purpose of the Big Heads when fixing, how are they located in the process, any picsused Sikaflex on mine years ago and no BIg Geadsjust wondered alan
Tazio
The Big heads are bonded to the inside of the wings, the ears of the big heads straddle the wing stay, and the wings are held in place using cable ties trapping the wingstay to the big head. Very effective, and so easy to remove the wings.

Guy Lowe
I have just fitted Big Heads my new wings this morning, I cable tie the BH's to the stay, mark the position of the wing and with a small amount of Tiger Seal set the wing in place. Once the sealant has gone off I cut the cable ties and remove the stay. Then on the bench I finish off the bonding with more Tiger Seal. One word of advice, make sure the sealant is at room temperature before applying, don't leave it in the garage overnight

Grubbster
This is how I fitted BigHeads on my academy car (half way down the page). I used the stuff they sold to glue them on with but I did have one failure so went back to Sika 292 (as used on my other 7) and never had another problem. http://www.sevenracing.co.uk/Caterham_Build_Diary/Entries/2012/11/4_Day_14_-_Brakes%2C_cycle_wings%2C_rear_wings_and_more_wrapping!.html

Grubbster
I LOVE the green nosecone (scroll to the end) on the sitting room coffee table, with drill to the side. :-)Yes, the timing of the build of my Academy car coincided with having our lounge redecorated so Caroline was fine with me bringing bits of car indoors to wrap! If you look elsewhere on the blog you can find me wrapping the bonnet on the kitchen table as well!
