CtrMint
Hi All... again :-)I'm trying to finish off some small loose ends, so thought I'd tackle the speed sensor. I've glanced over the diagram loads of times in the Ikea manual so it looked simple enough. Hmmm famous last words.Fundamentally my issue is that I can't position the sensor within 1mm of the serrated disc as stated in the manual. My rear ARB bracket has two holes, one large and one small. The small is offset to the side, my sensor is too small for the large hole and passes through, so I'm working on the assumption it is designed for the smaller hole. As mentioned I can't achieve the desired clearance.Surely I'm being dumb here and totally missing something, likely to be the case! There is a single nut supplied with the speed sensor which doesn't appear to be used??Thanks allImages illustrate the issue.
ChrisC
Have you got the adaptor https://caterhamparts.co.uk/senders/6707-wheel-speed-sensor-kit.html?search_query=wheel+speed&results=237or https://caterhamparts.co.uk/senders/6706-insulating-top-hat-wheel-speed.htmland look here for fitting https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/2017-speed-sensor-fitting
CtrMint
I've had a rummage around in the remain parts of the kit and found the following which appears to have the same thread internally as the sender. I'm wondering if I'm supposed to use this in the larger hole?https://caterhamparts.co.uk/senders/6706-insulating-top-hat-wheel-speed.html

ChrisC
Simple for me - I posted the question when I got my new wheel speed sensor, so I knew a good answer had been posted.
CtrMint
can I ask did you use a plain nut on the side closet to the serrated disc, the smaller of the two nuts? The kit I have has 1 corrugated washer which is used on the outside nut nearest the cable. The other small nut isn't a nyloc and so I can't see how it will stay put?
ChrisC
I put the locking nut closest to the serrated disc, if the nut comes loose at the wire end it won't go anywhere ;-). I did find it difficult to adjust the sensor in the adaptor once the adaptor was tight, I assume its because it misshapes the tread just a little bit. So tighten the adaptor to the bracket last. Its a little more of a pain in the arse than the old design but works way better.
