rj
A friend with a Disgustella has asked me to help identifying the engine it has.He reckon it's a Silver top that has had the covers painted black. The engine was in the car when he bought it. Can anyone confirm which engine it is? He's going to buy TBs and want to get the right ones first time - Thanks Regin

Drumster
Just had a dig through my Zetec stuff and came across a word document (unsure of it's source)The Zetec E came in 3 different series:1. Silvertop - upto 1995ish , 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 variants. It has DOHC 16V cast into an aluminium rocker cover2. Silvertop - upto 1998ish, also 1.6, 1.8 and 20 variants but have Zetec 16V cast into the aluminium rocker cover3. Blacktop - 1998 onwards, 1.8 and 2.0 variants only. The rocker cover is black acrylic.I also believe that the Silvertop had hydraulic lifters as opposed to solid lifers on the BlacktopI have the aluminium rocker cover with Zetec 16V as shown in your photo and just to add confusion it is fitted to a 2.0 Blacktop.
