revilla
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm//273597588092NTDWM - Looks like BookaTrack selling off Caterham stock, but these are not easy to come by and they got for a lot more than £10. 7 available right now. Bricol
Its not the same one as fitted to my 2001 Roadsport - which is much more like:https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-SBB10097 and only £4.19Different fixing at the engine end.
revilla
Hmmm that's interesting ... What throttle body do you have? Mine is a VVC and all the ones with the metal 48mm or 52mm TBs that I've seen use SBB10176 I'm sure. Just out of interest can you post a picture of the engine end of yours? Wrightpayne
Andrew, mine is like yours but the ones in the bags look different?Ian
Bricol
Yep, mines like the throttle above - although mine now operates a Rover 2600 throttle cam attached to Jenveys.
StevehS3
I just have the inner cable from this in the boot for a quick roadside repair and use the inner part of an electrical connector block for the pedal end. You really shouldn’t be carrying around all that extra weight of the outer (albeit untested!). https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F182789732350
Bricol
I just made sure mine ran in such as way it didn't rub or kink - so I don't need to carry a spare ;-)After all, do you carry a spare in your tin top that you probably do more miles in? When was the last time you replaced one in a "normal" car? We'll ignore the fact more modern cars don't even have the bowden cable . . .
StevehS3
Tin tops don’t have such a crude cable connection to the pedal or such limited space affecting the routing.
Bricol
Ooh they do, or did. I've had cars where owners have resorted to gluing clevis pins or clips to the ends their fingers to get them back on ;-)Take the pedal box cover off a Caterham (on mine anyway) and there it is - smack in front of you - you can see it, you can work on it without standing on your head, a torch in your teeth, balanced over the back of the front seat, one arm under your head trying to get it around and in position to fix some clip, cable end in place :-)And such an open engine bay you can run it where you want.Open a Lancia integrale bonnet . .. or a V6 Alfa 159 . . .and then tell me you have limited space ;-)
2cv7
Is it the same as this one? http://www.leacyclassics.com/sbb10176.html
revilla
It's the same part number so yes, I'm hoping it's the same.
A7 OOH
Just received my throttle cable and it is not the same as fitted to my car, my car has the same cable as shown in REVILLA picture. I also notice that Caterham do not show the type of cable as fitted to both my car and shown by REVILLA.The one shown for the LHD Vauxhall on carbs have the same ends as mine.Am I correct in thinking I could just use the inner cable.Help before I return cable to Bookatrack.. Wrightpayne
If my inner breaks I’ll just use a bicycle brake cable. The ebay image was enough to stop me buying one - If its wrong I’d send it back.Ian
revilla
An update; sorry, it was wrong! Will have to go back. The bag has an MG Rover label correctly saying SBB10176, but the cable inside is clearly labelled as a FirstLine FKA1028, which is clearly not an equivalent.Sorry if I misled anyone, the part number specified was correct but I should have looked more closely at the photographs. A7 OOH
SMT 25T- what size is the cable (I should have checked dia and length BEFORE i packed it up to send back)How are the ends connectors sorted. Thanks
Wrightpayne
Standard inner cable for MTB with ‘cheese’ end. You’ll need something to terminate / grip cable at the throttle pedal end - electrical terminal strip or Halfords do some cable clamps.Ian
SM25T
I chose one with a diameter to suit the bore of the outer cable. Stainless cable with a slippery coating (Teflon or PTFE). Barrel nipple one end to fit in the hole of the quadrant at the engine end ... might need filing down to fit in the hole. Pedal end I use a screw nipple bought for around a Pound on eBay. StevehS3
I haven’t tried this yet but I believe the inner cable of this is correct and it has the correct barrel for the engine end.https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F182789732350
