Tony Smith
Hi all,Its a wet, cold and miserable afternoon in West Sussex and even placing the golden trowel in front of the fire with a reading light focused on it so it almost glows with wonderfulness is not enough to stop me feeling its a long long time until we can drive in anger again!!!So to cheer myself up I an looking on the interweb at the Varley Li5 Lithium battery and wondering if it would be a good way of offsetting the extra weight of my new roll cage?Anyone have any thoughts or experience?Tony
Drumster
What roll cage have you got? My tall roadsport rollcage is 1.5kg lighter than my FIA bar and Petty Strut!
Tony Smith
i haven't got it yet but its in hand and will be the SLR type only 40mm taller.Andy Jupp at PGM is sorting it for me.If the cage ends up being lighter than the fia bar, then that's another excuse i cant use anymore!!!!! Mark Durrant
TonyRemember that next season you can only use Lithium ion batteries that are listed in the Blue book, so check before you buy
Tony Smith
Thanks John. As we all know Phil lives in his own not quite parallel universe!!Geoff, perhaps you have mistaken me for someone else ???Mark, I never thought it would happen but that's a really useful comment!!!! Thanks all It says that the Varley is MSA approved but I guess thats not the same as being on the list, will check first. Now looking at magnesium wheels and carbon wings. Drumster
Tony,Upgradeitis? Beware, it's a slippery slope.... Before you know it you'll be heading up the classes. My 7 started out as a Class 3 car, just saying......
Tony Smith
I think your advice is good, but a bit late now!! I appear to be hurtling down the slope faster than I will ever go up a hill. However, class 3 is the only class for me, as its the only class that has a Phil Matchwick in it and my sole motivation is to spoil as many of his weekend as possible. All in the best possible spirit of the championship!!!!
