Paul Philpot
K series, 1994 Supersport 1.4I went to start the car this morning and there was a mechanical rattle. I started the car a few times and it seems to have 'cured' itself.Could this be the start of starter motor failure?
SM25T
Do you mean a rattle only while the starter was running ? Check fixing bolts tight. Check cable connections secure and state of battery charge.
SM25T
If you suspect the starter motor or attached solenoid ... remove it and get it checked and overhauled by an auto electrical workshop. Plenty around.
revilla
If the car has been left standing for a while, are you sure it wasn't just hydraulic followers rattling a bit until they pumped up again?
Paul Philpot
Hi RevillaThanks for your response, the car has only stood for a week.

Paul Mason
I had 2 rattles on my car of late that took a bit of finding. 1 was the broken dzus fastener on the front of the nosecone (surprisingly mechanical sounding) and a second was on the collector where it was attaching to the primary, one which came and went with heat in the exhaust system
Paul Philpot
Rattle only on starting, as soon as engine fires all is quite in the neighbourhood (sort of)
