Brightonuk
I am installing a drop floor and there is some confusion over the type of rivet Steel can mean a steel mandrel and ali head or all steel (mandrel and head) I was told Arch uses "all steel" can anyone confirm this? And if I use all steel I would think rust would be a concern. Thanks Steve
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted November 17, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted November 17, 2018 Use all-steel rivets. They must be some sort of steel alloy because they do t rust - they’re a sort of gold colour.Stu.
simon_h
Plated steel would be the ones to use. Ally ones would fail in time I expect
Bricol
I think all steel rivets are zinc plated and clear passivated, so corrosion unlikely to be a problem. "sort of gold" colour could be a coloured passivation, or cadium plated.Aluminium ones can't take the axial loading as well as steel ones, so loosen over time. mikestifel
@brightonukyou might want to check mcmaster if you haven't already, they have a large selection of blind rivets.
