CtrMint
Hi All,Another build question.I've just installed the prop shaft into the back of the 5 speed box. Everything seems to have gone OK.I removed the plastic white sealing bung, aligned the prop and inserted. There is no mention of a rubber seal, I guess that is correct? Apologizes in advance if its a dumb question, I'm learning a lot here!.Thanks
Jim 123
Correct. A good slobber of grease inside the propshaft splines and around the outer faces is helpful.
CtrMint
i wasn't sure if that would get into the gearbox oil.Should I move it back out slightly and grease then?
Jim 123
It's not essential and will be fine as is. I wouldn't worry about the gearbox oil scenario, but it is good practice to lubricate metal to metal surfaces. Grease on the propshaft splines is also an inhibitor of driveline clunk.
