Collidog
Am not impressed with the arms/blades on my new SV. The arms are over-sprung and ping back onto the screen without warning and the blade assembly not very solid. I heard that classic mini replacements are better. Does anyone have a link or a better suggestion. ?cheers
SM25T
You can squeeze the socket on the wiper arm gently with pliers or mole grips ... both on the sides and faces of the box. Stops the play when the arm is inserted. Don't ever leave arms away from the screen without the blades fitted .... if they ping back they could crack the screen. mikestifel
what to people generally use for replacement blades? i could use a set for my '87 Caterham and i'm not sure where to even begin looking. i have a good source for mini parts if the blades are interchangeable. SM25T
Originals from Redline ... or Car Builder Solutions. Work fine for me
revilla
Land Rover S3. Identical to the Caterham ones and dirt cheap - only a bit too long. I just chop them to the length of the originals. To avoid distorting the rubber by squashing the metal part during cutting, I cut them with a little cutting disc on a Dremel.
mikestifel
my mistake. i forgot to mention that i'm in the states, so as much as i'd love to get them from redline they're not a good option for me.
revilla
My mistake too ... I.meant Land Rover Series 1, not Series 3.
Area Representative Piers300 Posted November 5, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted November 5, 2018 As Redline is the sole distributor for older Caterham and Lotus 7 parts, I would think that obtaining most Caterham products in the USA would be rather difficult. I know that Redline exports a lot of kit, so why not try them. At least it will fit. There is a Caterham distributor in the States and they to should be also able to supply you. The wining factor is that Redline will have it in stock and know exactly what is needed.Piers
paul jacobs
I hesitate to mention the name this forum, but Westfield sell a nice sprung wiper blade of the right size, that works a lot better than the Caterham OE. Probably available world wide too, don't have a link, but shouldn't be difficult to find.
Collidog
Great - which ones specifically?
thompster
Guessing at this one? 204mm.https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=
John Vine
That looks like a properly designed blade, with two carriers and four mounts. It's a bit longer than the S3 one (190mm), though. Would it fit an S3? I don't know as I'm nowhere near my car at the moment. Maybe OK for an SV?JV
Collidog
Which arm to use though? The 155 mm or 175 mm? Maybe the shorter for S3 and longer for S5.
ScottR400D
The SV has a 210mm blade. The distance from where the blade connects to the arm to the centre of the splined end is 175mm. Anyone know what the compatibility is? Do the Westfield blades fit Caterham arms? Do the Westfield arms fit the Caterham spindle.Caterham only seem to sell one arm, 188mm. (Could be what mine are, I couldn’t see the very end of the arm, it’s in the blade. The blades do look better.
Collidog
Nice summary Scott. Let’s hope we get an affirmative on these questions then can order. Maybe the Westfield parts dept would know. Might call them tomorrow
SM25T
The mechanism and splined shafts are from Land Rover Series I, II and III
John Vine
The mechanism and splined shafts are from Land Rover Series I, II and IIIThanks for the pointer, Ian. I've just ordered a pair of (10") flat blades for £5.99 (incl VAT and delivery) from these people. Now I just need to follow Andrew's advice and get the Dremel out.JV
elie boone
The Citroen C 4 3 door coupe ( 2004 - 2010 ) has a 7" wiper for the rear. But i don't know if there is a connecting piece to suit a Caterham.
