Wrightpayne
Has anyone permanently removed the carpet from a tillet seat and made good the gel coat?My son has a damage repaired gaming tillet on which the carpet is falling off. I was thinking spray oil to remove the glue then t cut to buff it up.Any other suggestions?Ian
DJ.
I did this on my new Tillets 7 years ago as I didn't like the carpet. I used lighter fluid as a solvent and a plastic scraper after tearing off the carpet. The gel coat underneath was fine.It was a horrible job!Duncan
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 14, 2018 Member Share Posted October 14, 2018 I was thinking spray oil to remove the glue...IIRC WD-40 is as good as proprietary glue removers, but you could do a comparative trial...Jonathan
Ivaan
Don't Tillet do a re-fresh service for their seats?
Wrightpayne
I think they do, however a bit extravagant for a broken and repaired 30 quid tillet that is used for playing Forza and Fortnite in the dining room :-) (cracked between upper seatbelt holes).I’ve bolted some wood 3x2 to the fixings in the fibreglass so it sits nicely, though he has put a pedal / steering wheel combo on his Xmas list so I expect more carpentry imminent !Ian
