Painting your helmet

Paul Bowden

Recommended Posts

Paul,

as I under stand it, thermoplastic type helmets(generally cheaper types) should not be painted, nor is it wise to put stickers on these. I'm pretty certain that if a helmet is Snell or FIA approved it won't be this type.

I think Fibre glass and other laminated helmets can normally be painted - but it's difficult to get a good finish, personally if you wanted to do this I would recommend using a profesional service. Also remember that any approval stickers on the exterior will be lost, so ensure all approvals are clearly labelled inside the helmet.
