RupertJames
To cut to the chase, I've recently purchased a 7, a 2002 1.8 k series roadsport with circa 160hp. Having now done 6000 miles since collecting it at the beginning of August, it's becoming obvious the car needs a full geometry setup.Currently, the car's suspension setup is bog standard roadsport, the only modification being a freestyle adjustable arb (set at its intermediate setting). The car handles great, but I'd like it to be a little more taught (perhaps something more akin to R-spec).If I had 1.5k to spend I'd have already ordered a set of nitrons. Unfortunately, I need to be more frugal, so what should I upgrade prior to getting its geometry sorted?
SM25T
I bought a set of four 1-way adjustable dampers and springs from Procomp Motorsport for less than £600.
Steve Sheldon
Not sure where you are based Rupert but I had my similar car setup by Rob Morley at Ratrace Motorsport. I use mine for road mostly with occasional trackday. I use standard dampers and a new set of firmer springs as recommended by Rob along with his superb brake pad set. It works brilliantly at all speeds as well as maintaining sensible comfort levels. Email me if you want more details. Steve
L777JDP
I've just gone for Nitrons, and moved from 14 inch ZV3s to 13 inch ZZS now on Apollo wheels, and had the suspension set up. All done by PGM, and as they predicted it has totally transformed the ride. They did say that they would most likely be able to improve it if I wanted to keep some or all of the original components by having the geometry reset via their flat floor setup. Andy Jupp at PGM is very knowledgeable on the topic, so again depending on where you are in the world, you may want to give him a call.
nickh7
Talk to Dave at Gemzoe Motorsport . Great advice but be prepared for a long phone call he knows a lot and will ask a lot of questions as to exactly what you want to achieve.best thing I did was have it flat floored and set up there. I run nitron street with 888rs freestyle anti roll bars .

TomB
What tyre profile & pressures are you running? Ive found that tyre profile makes quite a difference.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 9, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted October 9, 2018 Rupert, when you say "bog standard Roadsport", does it have adjustable platforms?Where are you located?Stu.
RupertJames
Thank you all for your responses.Regarding the above questions;-I'm running 13" superlight wheels, 6" fronts and 8" rears. Profile wise i believe they are 55 (185 fronts and 215 rears). I run 18psi all round.-Unfortunately, the car does not have adjustable platforms. If i'm not mistaken, if I fitted adjustable platforms, and fitted some sturdier springs, i could get the car set up quite nicely.I'm based in London. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 9, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted October 9, 2018 Speak to one of the specialists about doing a setup for you. You'll need adjustable platforms but if you also need a spring swap (hard to say if you're not sure what you have now) it would be best to fit them when you do the platforms. Area Representative Richard Price Posted October 9, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted October 9, 2018 Whilst there are plenty that would disagree, fitting stiffer springs on standard dampers is not a good move. If you're under damped now, with stiffer springs, you'll be more under damped. Are you sure you have'nt got adjustable platforms? You're likely to be high at the back and lowvat the front if you have'nt.
RupertJames
Alright, good to know. This was just my thinking, but my knowledge is very limited. No, definitely no adjustable platforms, and yes the car is slightly high at the rear, and low at the front. Will give one of these guys a call

Simon.Rogers
If you want to take a look at all the possible options for dampers that I offer I have a Buyers Guide that you can download.https://www.meteormotorsport.com/caterham/suspension/Most people seem to like the way it's written and the advice. Many of the guys mentioned above to set up the cars buy their dampers from us and then do the fitting and setup to suit the customer locally.Give us a call for more info.
