K7 VCT
Hi all, Anyone able to shed light on my handbrake issue. Yes i never use it either but with MOT looming i tried it. All fine on driver side but near side is very poor and ineffective. Car is factory built 2014 with standard brakes. What should or cpuld i do to resolve the issue. Thanks all
John Vine
Does the NS cable yoke on the calliper move at all when you apply the handbrake? If not, I'd suspect the cable itself. Perhaps the inner is seized up due to corrosion? JV
Wrightpayne
When I had the tunnel top off mine last the cable had come off the mini pulley at the end of the handbrake lever and had jammed down the side of the pulley. This could cause unequal distribution of force either side.Worth a check.Ian

SM25T
Wind the piston clockwise back until retracted. Handbrake adjuster slack. Refit pads and caliper top. Press brake pedal hard a few times to actuate self adjuster. Then adjust handbrake cable. Check front cable on bottom of handbrake lever is seated in pulley ok. If you adjust handbrake before using pedal to actuate self adjusters it will mess up the setting.
Jim 123
Have you got the same number of cable ties holding the handbrake outer on each side, and are they roughly in the same positions.
john milner
Sounds to me like it has been poorly adjusted as I created something similar by mistake myself. The SM25T readjustment advice would be my first try at a fix. You probably only need to wind back the one that you class as being fine but I would do a small wind back on the loose side to see if it had seized.
