smnicolson
Having become jealous of a fellow owners shiny exhaust compared to my dull out the factory one, whats the best process for making it shiny?I've found kits online to convert my angle grinder to a buffer, but does it need hours with the wet and dry paper first? Also whats it made out of, stainless steel or something else? New 310S by the way

oldboarder
I bought a stainless steel polishing kit to fit on my electric drill from ebay earlier this year. The car had done approx 200 miles. Followed the instructions with the kit and a couple of hours later I had a shiny exhaust. I recommend you do this outside with the exhaust off the car as it does create a load of muck. rj
Get it electro-polished. Way easier than DIY and for the money it costs it's not worth the effort.
Tony Whitley
I've tried it on my car once so far and while they were cleaner it was a long way from concours - but then so is the rest of my car!
SM25T
It seems to get the initial tarnishing off with ltitle effort.

Hampshire West AR
I used 1200 wet and dry and then fine wire wool and autosol polish. Not seen many cars with an exhaust that has more shine.Nick
Paul McKenzie
Ah..... the black art.Take the whole system to a metal polisher and he'll do the lot for less than £100 and it will be mirror finish. After that it's easy to keep on top of it yourself.
smnicolson
Thanks AllAppreciate companies will do a good job for me much easier however I just fancy a go myself, not enough manual labour done on cars these days
Guy Lowe
IMHO there is only one way to do it.1. Buy a bench grinder2. Buy a Sisal Mop https://www.technologysupplies.co.uk/sisal-mop-2-section-6x1-inch.html3. Buy a bar of Ferrobrite compound https://www.technologysupplies.co.uk/ferrobrite-compound.htmlRemove the exhaust and primaries and turn this: Into this:Excluding the time to remove and refit the system it takes about an hour to polish, depending on how bad you let it get.Guy
