nickh7
helloback in the old days I fitted an Apollo Tank to my K series . I now have a new engine to fitn and I am going to move it over to the new engine . I recall having to cut of some of the block to get it to fit but looking at the instructions I’ve got in my file there is no mention of this procedure! Am I going mad ? I’ve done a search but can’t find anything about the block mod .New engine is a VVC
SM25T
Wasn't it bevelling a sharp edge on the front nearside of the block to stop it chafing the hoses. I did it, then found I didn't have to run the hoses through the alternator belt ... phew.
Wrightpayne
Its where the angled connectors come off the sandwich plate - on my car these fouled the block and wouldnt allow the sandwich plate to bolt up squarely. Also, I found one of the angled connectors onto the sandwich plate is impossible to tighten up with it fixed to the filter housing. I bolted them up tight then fitted to the filter hsg.Ian

Bricol
I took a fair bit more off than shown there just to make it easier. If you break into a nice clean machined hole - don't worry, it's a location hole for use in manufacture ;-)If it's a non-Caterham block, there's a casting rib on the same side that need removing too to use the Caterham starter. AndrewE
As a separate question does any one have a template drawing of the lower ally mounting plate?Andrew
John Vine
...does any one have a template drawing of the lower ally mounting plate?I don't, but you could mock something up with a sheet of cardboard as the dimensions aren't critical. Trim the sheet to fit across the cross-members, lower the Apollo vertically down to it and mark up where the big hole for the drain plug needs to be.
