Chris300
Hi All,I’m looking to go Aero screen (wind deflector) and have narrowed the deflector down to Meteor's clear aeroscreen ( https://www.meteormotorsport.com/shop/caterham/clear-aeroscreen/) based on price, good visibility and has centre fixing unlike some cheaper deflectors. Please feel free to give your thoughts on that decision...Now I’m looking to match this up with mirrors and would appreciate your thoughts. As don’t have full cage and want to keep the car standard, I will be fixing to side mirrors to the deflector. So a few things to consider:1. Convex or flat? 2. Some people run aero without centre mirror, do you miss the rear view centre mirror? 3. Any recommendations for good priced and good quality mirrors? Current Caterham mirrors are fixed to windscreen don’t give the best of visibility and have vibration problems at different rpm.Cheers
Drumster
Mirrors seem to come down to personal choice but I have had Brooklands screens for 19 years and although the way the mirrors are fixed will be different to the clear perspex aeroscreen I have always used convex mirrors for the centre and side mirrors and this ensures no blinds spots.I have the SPA Sportscar mirror for the centre and the SPA Formula mirrors for the sides. Chris300
Thanks 'aeroscreens'. Guess there will be arguments for different setups, as you say personal choice. Convex mirrors are winning so far
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted August 8, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted August 8, 2018 I prefer flat centre mirror and convex sides. This gives excellent side vision and avoids blindspots plus the flat centre mirror gives a better perspective of distance. JonL
I'm with Nick on this, convex side mirrors and flat centre mirror. The centre mirror can sometimes block your view of your nearside front wheel, so I do remove it when I am doing a trackday, but it's fine on the road. Chris300
Thanks Chaps, seems like a good setup to have a go with. I know some people have extended height of centre mirror to see far side wheel, maybe an option later. Will see how I get on.
