R500 Shift Light ECU Location

I believe the R500 comes with an ACES shift light fitted as standard. Where is the ECU mounted? I am looking for a suitable place to mount mine where it is reasonably accessible (i.e. somewhere in the cockpit area) but won't get wet.

when you say ECU I am assuming you mean the control box for configuring the shift lights 🤔

 

if so then I think the R500's come with a pre-programmed one with no control box, I could be wrong of course

When I say "ECU" I mean Electronic Control Unit, i.e. the brains of the outfit. The scuttle mounted display box only contains the LEDs, so there must be another black box mounted somewhere.

Just above the steering colum or if you want next to the fuse box .

The "down loadable" control unit on my car is located adjacent to the fuse box on the baulkhead

 

Include some extra wire length so you can detach the unit from the "dual lock" system to interegate the unit etc

Mike, if you search the archives there are lots of threads on fitting these. The most sensible one I saw was fitting the shiftlight control box in a very small tupperware box on top of the pedal box and running a wire to the ECU.

under the dash, over the steering column, vertically to the rear of the front edge of the scuttle.
