Paul_Hedley
Does anyone know if the differential ratio is normally stamped anywhere on the casing? I'm curious to know what is actually in my car.ThanksPaul

djg
I have a ford diff c/w lsd fitted in a 96 super light with de Dion and the ratio is stamped on the horizontal flat face just behind the nose. If you get under the car and diff and look at it just clean the flat faces and it could well be there.
Duckpit
google it and you will find that you can work it out by jacking the car and counting turns on propshaft and wheel, its also different for LSD

Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 12, 2018 Member Share Posted July 12, 2018 ... you can work it out by jacking the car and counting turns on propshaft and wheel, its also different for LSDOr by measuring the engine speed and the road speed eg by GPS as recently discussed. You can measure the gear ratios the same way.I got this wrong before about deducing the presence of an LSD but I don't think that affects this method of measuring the final drive ratio if you fix one wheel and count the ratio of turns and remember the factor of 2...Jonathan
