K7 VCT
Running NS-2R in 1856013r. For last 2 years. Still very good.
Alan.gilford
+ 1 for NS-2R in 185/60/13, much better than the old mix of A539's and very old A021's that were fitted.Don't know if they do them in 15's

dave_h34
Wouldn't fancy those at all, not the same as the NS-2R. I have Federal 595RSRs which are a good cheap tyre, like the NS-2R, but still around £60ea. That's in 195/50r15 btw, as there's very little in 195/45r15 these days. 7 wonders of the world
If you go to 195/59/15 you will have a raft of options at better prices too, including 2 from Toyo R888R and the R1-R
aerobod - near CYYC
Bridgestone RE71-R also seems to be a good match for the Caterham in 195/50-15 size, better grip than the CR500s, warms up faster than the R888R, has decent wet grip and a reasonable price, at least here in Canada. Jonathan Kay
I'm confused. Please could someone write a brief overview of the different current Nankang tyres of interest to Sevens.ThanksJonathan
dave_h34
There's only 2 as far as I'm aware, NS-2R which is a ZZS alternative but cheap, and AR-1 which is akin to a ZZR but again cheaper. As for performance I can't comment.

Chris C
I am looking to replace my AO48's with Nankang NS2R's. But which compound should I buyie 180 Street or 120 Medium?I only use my 7 on the road.ThanksChris
Tom_Arundel
Depends on how and when you use them and your driving style. 180 is fine for summer road use and medium power but 120 will be better for cold / wet use and more power. if you are using it over the autumn / winter i would go for 120..if you can get them. They are quite predictable / progressive in the dry and I haven`t had a problem in the wet...yet! Sidewalls are quite stiff and tyre is quite heavy so not great on rough / bad roads but `ok` I like them (but we have reasonable roads around here). Colin Cooper
I am also looking to change my AO48's to 'something'There was a thread championing Uniroyal Rainmasters; would these be a viable alternative to any of the above?Col
Keith_T
On a 2-week trip to France was worried about the A048s for long distances in wet conditions. Ended up opting for Nankangs as Rainmasters weren't available in 185x60x13.Not sure of the compound (believe Demon Tweeks offered no choice in required size) but the tyres performed well in all conditions. Chris C
What tyre pressures do you use?Chris
Tom_Arundel
Pressure depends on tyre type, usage, ambient temp, wet dry, load, speed, etc... the list goes on. The NS2 seems ok at about 19-20psi (cold - 2 up) on our roads. I frequently run 19 front - 20 rear. It`s a matter of `try it and see` what suits your car. L777JDP
Is there a recommended tyre pressure for Avon ZZS 185/55/R13 for road use? They are on Apollos. I'm currently on 20psi all round. Thanks!
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 2, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted October 2, 2018 There was a thread championing Uniroyal Rainmasters; Colin, I am using Uniroyal https://www.uniroyal.co.uk/car?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7Lzj2qjo3QIV6rXtCh0vNwUSEAAYASAAEgLnIvD_BwEAs I am not with the cars, I can not tell you whether I am using RainSport 3 on the Seven and RainExpert 3 on the 21 or vice-versa. They are OK but next time, I'm going to go for something more dry weather orientated on the Seven.I don't think they are soft enough for my taste, I want to wear them out not throw them out after five years with the tread intact. This is something I am about to do with the winter Nokian tyres I have used on the Seven; these are dated 2011 and look new visually but you can feel that they are harder than they were. Colin Cooper
Cheers Steve. With the Yokos now no longer road buyable, I will be looking to buy a set of four (five if I go for the spare as well), so quite an outlay.Col
