GPBox
Hi all, as part of the Cambelt replacement work I'm going to do (R400K) I will also changing the belt on my pump...whats the procedure to tension etc ?...does the pump move of the tensioned wheel ?..is it like the alternator belt wrt tension (ie 'just enough') also having read the various DS oil change recommendations on here...is removing the blue plate preferred over removing the sump bolt which is just forward of the plate ? Finally the recommendation to check the scavenge pump pick up pipe for debris ...?...which pipe is that and how do I get to it ? thanks allGraham
oilyhands
The tensioner has a hexagonal spur which takes a 13mm spanner, you turn the spur against the tensioning spring and the tensioner backs off enough to slip the belt off, the new belt goes on in the same way.Oily

Wrightpayne
In the casting there are a couple of holes that line up when you take the tension off. I stick a small allen key in to hold it whilst I swap the belt.Ian
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 27, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted June 27, 2018 Rather than removing the blue plate or the sump, invest in a Pela oil extractor and suck the oil out through the top of the tower.
TomB
It might be also worth considering a pump rebuild at Titan if it’s not been done before.
