james.c
Evening all, Just turned up at the hotel ready for the first leg of a 3 day road trip through Wales. Just noticed that my rear brake pads are horribly low! Fronts are not terrible so should be ok getting to Bangor (first leg). Where do I start working out what brake pads I need to try and find a garage in Bangor to help me? The car is a standard 2016 620S. Uprated brakes (front??). Not sure if they are standard pads and / or if I have any chance of finding the right pads in Bangor. Any help much appreciated! J
Tonmawrie
Hi, if you are coming anywhere near SA12 9UR, you are quite welcome to use of trolley jack tools etc. Also if you need parts delivered use my address. If you do get a part number there are plenty of factors local to me. Also, if youre stuck I ve got a set of new pads in a set of M16 calipers that are off the car. SM25T
Moral of the story ... check before you set off. On a big European tour with 4 cars a few years ago, one of our party ran out of rear pads in rural France. He had looked at them before the tour started ... But only looked at the outer pads assuming inners would be the same. But the inners wear faster with the rigid brake hose. As we jacked the car up to look at what was needed, a passing car stopped to see if he could help. Turned out to be a Westfield agent that lived 10km away ... and he had stock of the right pads. What are the chances of that happening. Took him an hour to find them in his barn ... But the ladies in our party were taken in to the farmhouse and treated to afternoon tea .... while the car owner chatted and Yours Truly replaced the pads. It was a stinking hot day ! The rest of the French family were summoned to come and see these 4 crazy cars ... and a minibus full turned up. Merci Vincent.
