TomB
Im pondering a respray / strip down of my 1996 Se7en next year in my 40th year. My car is whatever was standard Caterham yellow in 1996 - I think it is Vauxhall Cargo Yellow. It now getting a bit tatty in places and isn't as bright as it could be. I'm thinking that I'll stick with yellow, but am wondering about changing from the standard yellow. Ive seen cars (tintop and 7s) in other yellows including Renault Liquid Gold, AMG Solar Yellow and the Detonator Yellow as used on the Caterham 620r like this one for sale.https://www.lotus7.club/forum/sale/2017-620s-detonator-yellowI was at Tractorfest near Ripon yesterday, and there was an immaculate, newly restored Bedford van in the VX Cargo Yellow which looked pretty good in the sunshine. So should I change the shade/ type of yellow, or just refresh what I've got? Please post up some pictures of yellow 7s!

DJ.
I was very glad my Seven was the standard yellow (called firecracker in 2010, but cargo yellow touch up is a good match) earlier this year when a minor accident damaged one rear wing. £138 later and the gel coat rear wing Caterham sent me matches perfectly
TomB
Firecracker yellow - Id not heard of that one. How many 'standard' yellows are there?!

John Vine
If you value originality (and ease of matching up parts like wings, as noted above), perhaps stay with the original colour?JV

TomB
Thanks Pat, any pictures of the liquid yellow in the daylight? I’m wary of going’s towards gold with some of the semi-metallic yellows- I defiantly don’t want gold. In terms of originality, I’m not to worried as mine is quite a bit modified from standard. I’m still on my original nose, and have unpainted CF front wings. When CC change the ‘standard yellow’, be it firecracker or VX Cargo yellow, what do they do with the GRP? Do they spray or change the gel coat colour? If I did go for it, I’d probably keep the nose and get it tidied up before spraying to avoid problems with the fit of newer pattern noses. JonL
I have touched up with Rover Yellow in the past which is a good match. This light makes it look like quite a 'deep' yellow.
TomB
I went to our local Porsche centre today to have a look at Racing Yellow coloured Cayman. It was certainly bright, but my wife thought it a bit ‘banana-y’ - I know what she means, a bit like a synthetic banana flavoured thing! Has anyone else done a Seven in this Yellow? I wonder whether a Yellow with a bit more orange in, a touch warmer might be better.
