Scottart
Has anyone had success at restoring gel coats ? I'm hoping to restore my rear fibre-glass wings ( 1987 Supersprint ) - the red finish is now getting to look chalky / dull / lifeless after all these years ! Tried various polishes, scratch removers, but not that effective.CheersStephen
DJ.
I think you will only get a long lasting improvement by having them sprayed.I recently damaged a wing and was impressed by how reasonable they are from Caterham, It was only £138 including vat, so that could be another option. I don't know how well they would match your colour red and if they fit an '87 car though.
DougBaker
Polishing old faded gel coat on boats is a pretty standard process which usually works well.Though power tools are generally involved so might not be possible with the wings still attached to the Seven. Scottart
Thanks Guys.I've ordered some gel coat restoring stuff from a boat chandlers. The wings are off the car, so it's worth a try. If not, then I'll investigate buying replacements from CC, or elsewhere ( if colour matches rest of car ). Or respray.

PeterM
My recent experience of getting a pre-sprayed rear wing from CC is that it won't match. If the restorer doesn't work (which it should) I would recommend a respray at a local spray shop that can match the fade and blend the wing to the rest of the car.
