Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 2, 2018 Member Share Posted June 2, 2018 I don't think that it's specifically connected to the ECU...Jonathan
revilla
YLE102430 - Yes the EU3 does use a different alternator. With a DFM output to the ECU to allow it to preempt changes in load at idle etc. If you switch to a standard EU3 loom and don't want to chop it about, you'll want the EU3 alternator. Plenty available on eBay.
revilla
Here you go... Nearly new for £24.99 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253662376061 - in the second picture you'll see top right an oval two-pin connector with a squared end. That's EU3 as opposed to EU2.

revilla
The MFRU you were looking for is cheap and readily available on eBay too, e.g. £7.95 here https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263720585837 but plenty to choose from if you search for YWB100970.
