Brightonuk
I have a 2000 SuperliteR and need to add a tunnel mounted handbrake(I just found I have a boss for the tunnel mount as opposed to under the dash (well I guess this is the handbrake mounting point )I need some help in how to go about doing this, I am ordering the handbrake and cables from Caterham but I have no idea on what I need for the rear calipers or how to go about adding this option.I was considering a Line lock to save the aggravation, it is not like we have hills in Fort Lauderdale but this seems to be the wrong long term approach.Any help would be greatly appreciated /sites/default/files/images/users/44267/large_Rear%20Brake.JPG/sites/default/files/images/users/44267/large_Handbrake%20Boss%201.jpg
Wrightpayne
In addition to the lever and cable there is a yoke which attaches to the lever with a mini pulley on. The cable passes through this.Do you have a picture of the back of the calliper so we can see whether the mechanism is there or not.Ian
Wrightpayne
You need ...https://caterhamparts.co.uk/handbrake/649-pulley-de-dion-handbrake.html?search_query=HandbRaKe&results=30and thishttps://caterhamparts.co.uk/handbrake/658-handbrake-clevis-de-dion-1996-onwards.html?search_query=HandbRaKe&results=30and probably two of thesehttps://caterhamparts.co.uk/handbrake/652-handbrake-clevis-pin.html?search_query=HandbRaKe&results=30I’d probably call and check whether its part of the handbrake assembly.Ian

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted May 28, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted May 28, 2018 That calliper has the handbrake mechanism, you just need to fit the cables. Start with a build manual and work out what you need.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 28, 2018 Member Share Posted May 28, 2018 Have you got an Assembly Guide with a diagram of the handbrake assembly? There are at least two versions of this for de Dion Sevens and it might help to have both if you're building from scratch. Please send me a Private Message with your email address if you'd like them.Jonathan

skmelrose
I am trying to adjust the handbrake on my 1992 HPC. I do not have an assembly guide for this era Caterham so would much appreciate a little help here. The photo above looks similar for the brake attachment but not for the anti roll barAs I work on this I noted that my rear springs are yellow while the front are blue, does the colour denote spring rate?On the plus side the car is going really very well and getting lots of attention as the only known caterham 7 on the road in Nova Scotia. Thanks as usual

TomB
Looks like a torch?
Tony P
I think it's the end of the wrist-strap of a camera, with a plastic tag on the end,The part that looks like the handle of the 'torch' would actually be the two sides of the looped strap - the 'highlight' being the gap between the two (you can see a glimpse of the yellow bodywork between the two). Were you holding the camera case, or something else, in your other hand whilst taking the picture? Tony P
I don't think there's the slightest need for embarrassment; you pic was for reference, not the art gallery!
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted May 31, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted May 31, 2018 Commenting on the same picture, it looks like the bolts securing the rear wing have been passed through from inside the boot and have washers/nuts on the wing side. Really these should be replaced with rivnuts fitted in the ally skin and nylon bolts passed through from the wing side, same as the ones under the front section of your rear wings. If you get a bump on track the nylon bolts will shear and minimise the damage, with the setup you have there's going to be quite a mess to the side skin and you'll probably write off the wing. There's currently another thread running on this.Stu.
