2008 Sigma parts (Cambelt Service)

Mechanic son and I are in the process of changing the cambelt on my 2008 Sigma 125. and facing problems identifying parts.  Motor factors want your Reg (which doesn't show up on their system) or the 'engine type' (which I don't know).  Just spoken to Caterham parts who say it's an 'early fiesta' but I'm not sure if Ford Parts Dept will be able to identify the correct bolts from that.

I'm specifically looking for the Cam sprocket bolts (2) and the bottom pulley bolt.  If anyone has been through this loop, I'd be grateful for any advice/part numbers.  Also, haven't yet undone the bottom Pulley bolt and wondering if there's a simple way to undo this without the aid of a £50 special tool?

Apparently the Gates kit no. Is K045433XS

The car you need to search for is a 2008 fiesta zetec s. Ford class this engine as zetec s, caterham call it sigma.

Special tools are required, and it is possible to mess up the timing if they are not used.

The bottom pulley bolt stretches and is included with the Gates timing belt kit. I bought new cam bolts from a Ford dealer, but he couldn't understand why I wanted them. On reflection, the cam bolts aren't toqued very highly and don't need to be replaced I think.

 

I used an excellent tool to lock the flywheel after removing the starter, and I wouldn't want to try doing the job without using that.

We've now got as far as pulley off but not likely to get the pulley back on and torqued accurately without a tool.  We are looking at the one pictured below.  Would be great if you could let me know what tool/source/seller you used because we're not convinced this one will 'fit'.

Are you aware the Caterham 125 cam timing is not the same as the Ford original timing marks, even though its the standard cams that are installed.   It means its not possible to use the factory cam timing marking or follow the ford manual (using the locking tool on the back of the cam).

Sorry I dont know exact details, but one of the cam shafts (exhaust I think) is advanced about 5 degress of its Ford timing mark for improved power reasons.    I remeber reading on here of a owner that had this problem before and ended up going to a Caterham specialist to reset the timming to Caterham spec to restore performance.   

If you have set it to the Ford factory timing it not going to cause damage, just not produce the same power.
