K series valve springs

Hi everyone,

 

I'm trying to strip a K series EU2 engine at the moment and have run across a problem, how do you remove valves and valve springs, do I need to compress the spring and therefore need to buy a valve spring compressor? or am I just being daft?

If you're used to old fashioned sized collets, beware. The K series has tiny bits of spring metal for collets, which can ping off in all directions. This is particularly a problem (I understand) when reassembling. Someone is kindly doing this for me at the moment. I was gobsmacked at how different the innards of a K series are compared with our previous SuperSprint. Makes one afraid of what is happening when the engine is zinging along at max revs.
