Hydraulic hose connections

Am remaking all the joints on the clutch realease hydraulics - not many joints! Is it advisable to use a locktite equivalent on the threads - think I used some blue stuff when I built it originally, but cannot remember that far back!

Thanks

It all depends on the design of the joints. In hydraulics you have either parallel threads that have a seal (usualy a "dowty seal") a tapered thread that needs sealing or an angled seat where the two faces match and seal without sealing.

Which car is it?

If it's one with an external slave cylinder then the damage done by something leaking will be limited and easy to fix.

If it's the threads, then I'd use the sealing agent, though. Just beware that it's something that can resist brake fluid.

A banjo bolt is usually sealed with copper seals at both sides of the banjo.

I have no idea of how the angled seat looks, sorry.

(My own setup uses a VW unit and as it happens I replaced it yesterday. I use Loctite 545 between the thread I've cut and the fitting I've made. Both threads here are parallel, but it worked for ten years so I imagine it will again).
