DIY refurbishing alloys & polishing outer rim

Hi everyone,

I did a test how I can refurbish a set of 6x13 alloys. The centres are not bad, the inner rims are dirty and on some spots paint flaking, the outer rims are straight but on a lot of spots the clear coat has been damaged.

The plan is to polish the outer rims first, clean and sand the centres and inner rims, mask the outer rims and then paint everything glossy black.

What is the best way to get the clear coat and paint off the outer rims? I did a test with dry sandpaper (80, 120, 240), but it takes ages. The paint is really hard and quite thick. Wire wool works slightly better but only after first sanding. Polishing afterwards is no problem, stuff and products enough and experience with polishing KN Jupiter alloys

Tips and hints welcome.
