r300chris
wanted track day air box for R500 D with internal conical filter, prefer carbon type if possible
Leadership Team Shortshift Posted May 4, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted May 4, 2018 Err - why would you want one of those? Most people are after the hard-to-get external cf version (used with a foam filter inside it). Just curious...James
r300chris
Hi James, I once again failed the drive by noise limit at brands yesterday, 3 dB over they said, I have the external carbon one, but an R500 next to me had internal with no problems, ive also got a raceco, normal length can, which I repacked just before eventbit boring driving at limited revs and short shifting, concerned now re other tracks I’d like to try especially CadwellChris
Leadership Team Shortshift Posted May 4, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted May 4, 2018 Hi ChrisStrange; not wishing to hijack your wanted thread but I'm running my R500D with the external cf intake (with a Pipercross foam filter inside) and a shortened Raceco can and I don't seem to have problems anywhere... They told me yesterday at BH that I was at 96 or 97db static (can't quite remember!) against their limit of 101db. So I wonder if there's something else afoot? But in any event, good luck with tracking down an underbonnet unit.James
r300chris
James, I was at 96db static at only 5500 rpm, have repacked with the stuff raceco supply, which is expensive, what have you repacked with ?I have seen some comments re acoustafil product being used !otherwise it may point to induction as my airbox is external
