Graham Sewell
After 7 long years, the transmission tunnel carpet on my 95 Classic SE (live axle) is looking shabby, so I ordered a new one and was provided with 76592 - tunnel carpet - 4 speed universal lc 95> chas which looks correct as it is 95 onward and it is 4 speed. I am assuming that universal actually applies to the DeDion chassis. but the carpet is too short and the gear lever gaiter hole is in the wrong place. Does anyone have the live axle parts CD and can look up what the part number should be? Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
stevefoster
Urhmm. There's nice shiny ali underneath that there rug Solves the problem. You may have to work a bit to remove any glue used to secure the rug though. My racing pics, 7 DIY, race prep. paulyb
Agree with Steve, Carpet adds weight, traps moisture and gets 'tired looking' so why bother. A bit of elbow grease on the tunnel and things will look great.
ewenm
The part code from the CD for the "Tunnel Carpet - 4 Speed Classic" is 76606. Hope it's the right one. Ewen. P979TMV - As seen on current Caterham advert, back of LF

Tyrone
Guys, My tunnel carpet is very tired and I was thinking of getting rid, but what do I do with with the gear lever gaiter 🤔 Brian
Graham Sewell
I do not know about De-dion chassis, but on live axle cars, the witches hat is secured to the tunnel separately and is nothing to do with the carpet.
