7Nut7
Any tips to get the 'perfect fit' of the rubber which mounts between the windscreen and the scuttle (especially at the stanchion ends). Cheers, Stew
SM25T
Hi Stew. Long time no see. Don't try and slide it in from one end. Lay one side of the 'T' into the groove in the screen and press the other side of it in with a credit card or paint scraper blade. Make sure you get it the right way up so the hollow presses against the scuttle. I have seen some upside down ! Fit the screen loosely to the stanchions with the stanchion to body screws a few turns loose too. Feed each end of the rubber behind the stanchion and out through the triangle. Pull the rubber downwards so it lays on the scuttle OK and do up the screws on the stanchion to trap it. Then cut off the surplus rubber. Job done. Wrightpayne
Is it a new one? If yes I was told to poke the ends through the triangular hole in the stanchion and pull downwards as you put the two bolts in. Trim off carefully once bolted up.Ian
DJ.
When I fitted a new screen, the rubber strip was different to my original. I spent ages trying to get it to fit, but never did manage it. In the end, I removed the old strip and fitted it to the new screen and it was really easy to get a perfect fit.
revilla
A little while ago I changed mine and had a problem wit the rubber seal. The top of the T-piece that clips into the frame was a lot smaller and it just wouldn't stay in place. I cut two thin slices across old and new seals and sent then off to Caterham who were surprised and said they hadn't changed suppliers or anything. I recently swapped screens again and ordered some new seal and I was pleased to see it was as it always used to be again.
