elie boone Posted February 27, 2003 Share Posted February 27, 2003 Today i have mounted some SS cams ( '97 K series ) together with the ECU but the black box ( underneeth the ECU )was different to the original black box, the black box that came with the SS cams and ECU has 1 plug the original has 2 plugs, i can start but the engine dies after 2 or 3 seconds is there any solution apart that i have to buy a new black box. F355GTS Posted February 27, 2003 Share Posted February 27, 2003 Black box under the ECU is the MFU and I believe is interchangeable, your problem sounds like Immobiliser though, did you fit one with the ECU? (it's a black box normally under the dash with one grey connector) if not this is your problem as the Immobilisers are matched to the ECU, I believe you can get a Rover dealer to reprogramme the unit Mark Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
EFA Posted February 27, 2003 Share Posted February 27, 2003 Ellie, Your problem sounds like fuel pump drive - the MFU provides this signal dependent upon receiving signal from ECU derived from the crank sensor.
