Area Representative Andrew Gilbert Posted February 2, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted February 2, 2018 I don't believe it is silly money, I know the car and the previous owner (who loves his 7's), its a well sorted VX c20xe HPC.
Martin7H
Looks a nice car, it caught my eye several times. Some what puzzled why it keeps coming up for sale; not long ago the asking price was that much lower! I noticed no front anti roll bar is fitted any reason? M1chaelw
Hi guys , thanks for the heads up , I'd seen the car come up for sale but it was out of my league price wise . Looks a nice motor though . It's got me thinking I might have to widen my search if nothing crops up in the near future.
Tazio
Andrew, it is silly money, Mike knows the value of his cars when he sells them. The seller is trying to get a quick £5k plus profit. And as I said before its more expensive than a mint standard 8k mile genuine HPC the Milwoods had for sale recently..
Area Representative Andrew Gilbert Posted February 3, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted February 3, 2018 The PO doesn't keep his 7's for long, enjoyed then passed onto another hence why it was up for sale about 18mths after he bought it.At £20k personally I think its value isn't far off. Maybe £21.5k is a little too far but that must have negotiating costs built in? No doubting what the seller is trying to do but does that mean its over valued or did Mike under sell it because he wanted to move it on quickly?Thing is with the Millwoods 7 (if I am thinking of the same 7 as that is also shown as a Williams car), isn't there something odd regarding whether thats a 'genuine' HPC or not, or 'just' a c20 engined Caterham 7? Being a P registered car and marked as a 40th anniversary 7 and having the handbrake on the tunnel does tend to work against it. If so (and the colour probably played against it as well) then maybe that was the value of that one where as Mikes old one has had a lot done to it and its a fantastic car. Just going by the pictures of the Millwoods 7, Mikes looks to be in far better condition (interior wise especially) But admittedly its not for me, I liked it in the guise I last saw it in April last year, but the market for good cars does move pretty quickly.Looking at the black HPC thats available today (or was at Millwoods) that was up for £24k?But question is, would I swap my HPC for either of these (Millwoods sold one or Mikes) the answer is, no I wouldn't.
