Well from a post on the 7ns list archives >There is an established length for the 'short' input shaft from the front > face of the gearbox, it is 6.9 inches, the long one is 8.1 inches Also from the same source 12mm chopped off with an angle grinder makes it fit a Vauxhall. I would have thought you would need to bevel the end. Hum why did I not look there first place...... Anyone like to confirm the above 🤔 'Can you hear me running' ......... EFA Posted February 27, 2003 Share Posted February 27, 2003 I chopped one off at the weekend - in situ! Jack up rear of car on one side, have helper turn wheel at steady speed. Use angle grinder at 45 deg to grind bevel. Worked a treat. I think the 1.4K is the only engine to use the long shaft, none of the others need it.
