ECR
I can recommend the POR 15 engine enamel from Frosts. It's expensive when compared to say the Halford's offering (and eye watering when the carriage to France is added!) but is so much easier to apply, and It also seems a much harder finish when dry. Previous paints have required 2,3, or even 4 coats to produce anything like a reasonable finish but one coat of Frost's offering and you're nearly there. During preparation, I also tried one of the air operated needle de-scalers (on a cast iron block) and was pleased with its results.

ECR
Well, it seems to be working on the boat anchor in the front of my car (cheeky swine )
elie boone
A ordinary car paint can withstand up to 120 C, an alternative is to use a aerosol for household radiators.
